Inspection of Cooperartive Societies and Projects

Whether the activities of the Cooperative Society are being conducted in accordance with the Cooperative Act, Cooperative Rules and Bye-laws of the Society, whether the interests of the general members are being protected, whether risks are being avoided by following the warning circulars issued by the Directorate of Cooperatives from time to time, whether the socio-economic conditions are improving or not. No, cooperative societies are visited at the field level to check whether they are showing favoritism towards any particular member, embezzlement etc. This inspection report is given to the registrar of the concerned society so that action can be taken in case of major non-conformities. Again the inspection report is also given to the authorities of the concerned society so that the society can take action to remove the non-conformities (if any). In general, the purpose of inspection is to determine the transparency and accountability of the persons engaged in the executive work of the cooperative society and to eliminate the errors committed.
Deputy-Assistant Registrar, Upazila Cooperative Officer, District Auditor, Inspector, Field Investigator, Instructor, Assistant Inspector and Assistant Instructor etc. post bearers under the jurisdiction of District Cooperative Office conduct inspection. District Co-operative Officer himself visits the Co-operative Societies too.
In addition to the activities of cooperative societies, inspections are also carried out for the purpose of verifying the credit activities of completed and ongoing Projects conducted by the Directorate of Cooperatives.
Office Inspection

The subordinate upazila cooperative offices are inspected to verify whether the subordinate offices are being managed properly, whether the cooperators are getting the desired services at the right time, whether the workers under the various instructions of the Directorate are cooperating in establishing good governance, etc. There are two types of inspection. Namely: pre-announced inspection and surprised inspection. The staff concerned are asked to take action to mitigate the deviations obtained from the office inspection and if any major non-conformities are found, they are recommended to the higher authorities for action.
